At least there are mushrooms…
Greetings mushroom enthusiasts! Spring is in full swing and despite it raining every single weekend, at least there are mushrooms. Whether you are new to the Vermont Shroomery or a long-time customer, welcome to our new information page. As the market season heats up, a lot of customers have been asking for a way to receive updates about where we will be and what we will have available on a given day. I will be using this space to post that information weekly. I will also add new product offerings and announcements here. This summer we are attending three markets regularly. Please check the web calendar to see where we will be, and when. As the season progresses we are making adjustments to our product offerings. We only have so much space to grow at the farm, so we want to use that space as best we can to provide everyone with the products they love most.
One of our biggest surprise sellers has been the mushroom jerky. I’ve been making as much of it as possible while still reserving plenty of fresh shrooms for those that want to take them home and cook. All I can say is that if its the jerky you’re after, try to come early. Hopefully eventually I can get ahead of it and have it available on the website for purchase. I also have a new flavor in the works that should be available in the coming weeks.
Speaking of online purchasing, in the coming days I hope to have the webstore setup so that customers can purchase products for pickup at the market of their choosing. We do sell out almost every market, and sometimes shoppers just can’t get there early for whatever reason. This option would ensure you get your mushroom fix for the week.
As far as wild harvests go, morels are winding down and we start the wait for the chanterelles and black trumpets to fruit. This should happen around the beginning of July, so unless something strange happens with the weather, those should appear at our stand around then. Local Chaga and Reishi are usually available already.
Any and all feedback is welcome. If we do something you don’t like or you think we could benefit from some constructive criticism, please reach out and let me know. Hope to see you at the market!
